Connection?

Do you ever think about the many words or phrases that get tossed
around all the time?
.....Mindset...Connection....Authenticity...Healthy Lifestyle...
But what do they mean? For a while I would take the meaning of other people and try to match my activities to the ones they thought [insert any word/phrase here] meant.
And when I started Unschooling it wasn't that much different. I was looking to fit into someone else's box or idea of what Unschooling meant and looked like for them. Thankfully I fell on a path where I met people that helped me find my own voice and I continue to learn from them. For this post I'm referring to my friend and Faster EFT practitioner Ilka Oster whom I met through Dayna Martin's Radical Unschooling Advocacy and Coaching program.
Ilka and I have been working together every week for a few weeks on her program The Awakened Motherhood and we talked about connection but furthermore WHAT IS CONNECTION?
I can say that connection with our family is one of the benefits of living The Unschooling Lifestyle but what does that look like? and if I'm honest it should look different for everyone but I think my conversation with Ilka yielded a visual that we can all relate with. I define connection as the positive vibrational exchange between two or more people as they engage in similar activities. Although I think this phrase needs some work (look for future revisions) I will go ahead and tell you a story because I think it can be helpful and clear any confusion.
Ok. You may know that gaming and technology has been an area of growth for me (more in future posts) but I have always wondered how they produce the graphics and special effects because they seriously are amazing. This time I was sitting with my son because he often asks "would you like to watch me play?" and sometimes I do and sometimes I don't (yes, I say no). This time I sat there willing to take it all in and I began asking him about the graphics and he just said "I'm not sure but they use some kind of technology" and being the researcher than I am I went to google and found out all about retired navy seals and the lengthy process that it takes to convert over 200 images into an item that can be processed by our tv or gaming consoles. I know I'm oversimplifying the technology but I learned enough to be completely blown away about the work behind the all-evil-video-games. LOL. My photogrammetry learning experience paired with my son's achievements in the Call of Duty game made possible the positive exchange of vibrations. There, CONNECTION.

This experience of exchanging positive vibrations as we both engaged in video games but in very different ways became the connection that continues to coat our relationship. And as we tune into authenticity and accepting that I'm not a gamer but that I can find common ground without judgement it makes this human existence so much freer. Just the way it should be.
How do you define connection?
